The College is made up of a Council, Executive, standing committees and task groups and is represented at a local level by the 37 faculties.

Council

The Council is the decision-making body of the College. Each faculty has at least one representative and there are also several places filled by election, co-option and ex-officio appointment.

Executive

The Executive comprises the officers of the College and chairpersons of the standing committees. The Executive directs and integrates the work of all committees.

Faculties

The College has established and co-ordinates a network of 37 faculties at local level. Each faculty is formally structured with its own bylaws which are subject to approval by Council.

Membership

There are 2,630 members and associates in the college comprising over 85% of practising GPs in the Republic of Ireland. There are 195 members in Northern Ireland, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other overseas locations, and 653 GP trainees.
