The Mater Private has Become the First Private Hospital in Ireland to Join the National Healthlink Project, Healthlink.ie
The Mater Private Hospital has become the first private hospital in the country to join the highly acclaimed online National Healthlink Project, a web-based messaging service which allows the secure transmission of patient information such as results and referrals over the internet.
Healthlink.ie already has over 1800 GPs around Ireland, and brings significant benefits and efficiencies to general practice including reducing both the length of time it takes to receive patients' test results and the length of time spent contacting hospital departments, and a reduction in administration and the direct integration of results with practice management systems.
GPs can now use Healthlink to send referrals electronically to the Mater Private Specialist Breast Centre. The Mater Private Hospital's Specialist Breast Centre offers a full range of services including rapid access to triple assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients with breast cancer. Appointments are confirmed by phone with the patient on day of referral receipt.
Currently, for the Mater Private, the range of services available to GPs using Healthlink include:
- Radiology Results
- Cardiology Results (first hospital to send this message type)
- Referral to the Mater Private Specialist Breast Centre
- Death and Discharge Notifications
It is planned that additional services will be added in the coming months:
- Laboratory Results
- Outpatient Appointment Messages
- Prostate Referrals
- Cardiology Referrals
- Diagnostic Imaging Referrals
Comment from David Delaney, Project Manager at the Mater Private:
GPs who are already using Healthlink can simply ring the Healthlink.ie helpdesk on (01) 8825606 to inform them that your practice would like to receive messages electronically from the Mater Private and we will switch you on. New users can apply online at Healthlink.ie.
