The 6th annual ICGP/National GP Trainee Conference was held recently in the Castletroy Park Hotel Limerick. There was a large attendance with all training schemes represented. A well received symposium on 'GP Trainees forging the future of general practice' was facilitated by Dr Gerry Mansfield, Dr Andrina O Brien and Dr Mark Walsh. A wide range of workshops covered areas relevant to General Practice including Practical Neurological Examination, Immunisation, Cardiovascular Disease prevention, Osteoporosis, The use of IT in Practice Management and the MICGP examination. The Medical Protection Society delivered a range of workshops related to Risk Management which were of particular interest. Dr Margaret O Riordan was delighted with the positive feedback and complimented Ms Pauline Tierney, Ms Caitriona Finn and Ms Aine Walsh on their organisation of the conference. Plans are already underway for next year's conference which will take place in Galway.
