Trainee Registration and Overseas Placements

Clarification has been sought from the Medical Council regarding the registration status of trainees on overseas placements as trainees can only remain on the trainee register if placements are undertaken within the state. The Medical Council have indicated that it will be a matter for each trainee to take up general registration for this period in training. However, overseas posts will continue to be approved for training if the specialist body recognises the post as part of the training programme
