Commencing Professional Competence in 2010
CPD Requirements under the Current Voluntary Structure
Those who wish to participate in the voluntary scheme are encouraged to do so until the mandatory scheme becomes live in May 2011. CPD credits can be issued under the following four categories:
- Internal CPD
20 credits per annum minimum - External CPD
20 credits per annum minimum - Personal CPD
5 credits per annum minimum - Research, Examining, Accrediting, Training & Education
2 credits desirable
- Please note that additional and new year summary sheets are available for download. Summary sheets will now only be posted by request.
- Keep this Personal CPD Folder in a safe place.
- Send the summary sheets only to the ICGP, 4-5 Lincoln Place, Dublin 2 in January each year and retain a copy for your records.
- You will receive a certificate of your CPD credits after the end of the five-year cycle.
- You will be requested by the Medical Council to forward this certificate to verify your activity over the 5-year cycle.
For External CPD (Meetings) there are 3 steps:
- Sign an attendance register at the meeting.
- Collect your CPD attendance certificate* at the meeting and keep it in your Personal CPD Folder in a safe place.
- Record your attendance and relevant credits for each meeting in your summary sheet under the external CPD category.
Do not send back your certificates of attendance and/or satisfactory completion for external CPD to the ICGP at the end of the year. Send only the summary sheets and retain a copy in your Personal CPD Folder.
* The convenor/organiser should supply you with a Certificate at the conclusion of the meeting/course provided it is accredited by the ICGP.
