Internal CPD

Minimum 20 Credits per annum, 100 credits minimum per cycle

Definition

Practice-based educational activities, which improve patient care.

Examples

  1. Practice based educational meetings: This can consist of doctor and secretary or doctor, nurse and secretary for single-handed practices.
  2. Journal clubs.
  3. Formal clinical case discussions with colleagues within practice or in other local practices.
  4. Practice quality improvement projects designed within the practice or shared between practices.
  5. Significant event analysis.
  6. Patient Surveys
  7. PCT meetings

Criteria

  1. Return summary sheets to the ICGP each January and retain a copy.
  2. The summary may be audited at a later date, copy for this purpose. Also include any material associated with meetings, etc. in your folder for validation purposes.
  3. Minimum credits per annum in this category = 20 pa, 100 credits minimum per cycle.
