Welcome to the Irish College of General Practitioners prospectus for GP education 2011/2012. The College is committed to providing our members with a vast and broad programme of continued education. We try to offer delivery of education that is suitable to different learning styles and interests. From this prospectus you will note that we cover many areas relevant to general practice in its entirety. The learning outcomes of our programme are designed to accurately reflect specific course content.

Professional Competence Scheme

This year as we embark on a professional competence scheme we are specifically focused on delivery of our educational outcomes in concert with the eight domains of good professional practice as devised by the Irish Medical Council.

These eight domains are outlined on the following pages and adherence to them will ensure the continued development of good professional general practice.

This prospectus outlines the main established programme of courses but during the year we will continue to add many more opportunities for study. Your views, opinions and suggestions are always welcome and I would personally value any suggestions for the continued development and provision of education that meets your needs and is recognised for professional competence credits.

Registration for 2011-2012 courses is now closed. Registration for 2012-2013 courses will open in May 2012.
