About the Course
This course is open to those who wish to become a Contraception Tutor for the purpose of assessing and certifying candidates applying for the Contraception Certificate.
The course will be of particular interest to GP trainers or doctors working in GP training practices. GP trainees who wish to complete the practical component of the Contraception Certificate during their GP registrar year can do so within their training practice by completing a log book under the supervision of a Contraception Tutor. The course will also serve as an update in contraception for current Instructing Doctors in Family Planning/Contraception Tutors.
Dr Meera Kishen, a consultant in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare in Liverpool Primary care Trust and past president of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare of the RCOG (2005-2008) will be running the session on Contraception. Dr Kishen is an expert in primary care led training in contraception and in evidence based clinical practice. This will be a lively interactive session including an update in all types of contraception and a review of new contraception.
Dr Gerry Mansfield, National Director of Specialist Training in General Practice will run the session on Principles of Adult Teaching.
If you would like to become a Contraception Tutor with the ability to certify trainees who work within your practice or if you are already an Instructing Doctor in Family Planning/GP Trainer and would like to attend this Masterclass as an update please contact kirstin.smith@icgp.ie.
Further course information and registration details will be available on this website over the coming weeks or forwarded to those expressing interest to kirstin.smith@icgp.ie in due course.
