What is the overall aim of the course?

To develop participants' knowledge and skills relating to all aspects of modern diabetes care. This includes the most up-to-date evidence, support in making a diagnosis of diabetes and selecting the most appropriate management for each individual. However it also involves configuring the practice to facilitate the care of patients with diabetes or any other chronic illness. These skills are particularly relevant in the context of a new GMS contract.

While the course focuses largely on type 2 diabetes, an increasing amount of time is spent on type 1 diabetes, insulin adjustment and the practical aspects of injection therapy. This is a one year course and is delivered through a combination of workshops and e-learning.
