Q. With the GP visit card can you charge for repeat scripts? We have never charged for this service but we know that some practices do charge.

A. It is our understanding that the GP visit card is covered under the GMS scheme and the issuing of a prescription would be part of the consultation so there would be no charge. Once the patient is in the practice there really is no difference between a GP visit card and full medical card patient. The difference really only arises in the pharmacy, where the GP visit cardholder must pay for prescribed drugs and medicines.
