Quality Initiatives
The ICGP Quality in Practice Committee (a Subcommittee of the Education Committee) produces impact documents and guidelines on clinical and non-clinical areas on topics of relevance to general practice. In many instances these documents are produced in conjunction with outside bodies.
The Quality Committee supervises the competition for the annual ICGP Quality Improvement Award (sponsored by Aviva). Application has opened for the 2010 award.
The Committee also looks at requests for the use of the ICGP logo in publications by external agencies.

Guidelines for Requests for the use of the ICGP Logo on Publications by External Agencies
All requests should be submitted on the official ICGP application form accompanied by the appropriate fee. This form must be submitted to the ICGP with sufficient time to be reviewed by the Quality in Practice Committee. It is recommended that applications are submitted at least three months prior to the date that access is required. There will be two levels at which use of the logo can be granted
Level 1
If the document has had ICGP involvement from its planning stage to its completion then it will be produced as an ICGP/outside agency joint publication and will be included on the ICGP publications list on the ICGP website. Printed copies may also be produced as needed.
Level 2
If the ICGP has not been involved with the planning or writing of the document but the Quality in Practice Committee considers it of relevance to general practice then the granting of permission to use the logo with the rider "approved but not written by the ICGP" will be given. The resulting publication will be linked to the ICGP website but not included in the ICGP publications section.
Fees for Application
- Level 1: A fee appropriate to the input of ICGP will apply (protected time for lead GP/administration/QIP Committee review etc), in addition to a license fee of €3,000.
- Level 2: A fee appropriate to the input of ICGP will apply in addition to a license fee of €3,000.
This fee will apply to all applicants with the exception of voluntary agencies
