The Quality in Practice Committee of the ICGP, chaired by Dr Margaret O'Riordan, is pleased to launch this document on helping patients with alcohol problems which was written by Mr Rolande Anderson, ICGP Project Director, "Helping Patients with Alcohol Problems".

Given the alarming statistics on alcohol consumption, alcohol related harm to individuals, families and communities, and binge drinking, this document comes at a welcome time. It is very user friendly and provides a step by step guide to interventions using the most up to date methods that are of proven efficacy.
