WHAT IS PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE?

If you hold Specialist, General or Supervised registration with the Irish Medical Council, you are required by law to maintain your professional competence and enrol on a Professional Competence Scheme operated by a Postgraduate Medical Training Body relevant to your scope of practice.

ICGP operates the Professional Competence Scheme (PCS) for general practitioners and we can advise you on how to fulfil this commitment and continuously develop your professional skills. If you have queries regarding professional competence, please visit our comprehensive FAQ section.

Irish PCS year is from 1st May – 30th April annually
