Statement of Condolence

The Irish College of General Practitioners, the professional and training body for General Practitioners in Ireland, has issued a statement of condolence following the devastating explosion in Creeslough, Co Donegal.

College President, Dr Paul Armstrong, who is a GP in Lifford, Co. Donegal, said: "Our thoughts are with the community in Creeslough today as this tragedy unfolds.

We in the GP community offer our condolences and sympathy to the families, friends and the community affected by this tragedy, who face huge loss and bereavement.

We think of the local medical community and first responders who are dealing with the ongoing impact of the explosion in Creeslough. We express our solidarity with our colleagues in the emergency and hospital services in both Donegal and Northern Ireland, who have been working at the scene and in the region.

May the victims of this tragedy rest in peace.
