Dr Henry Jack, 1927 – 2022

The ICGP are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Henry Jack. Prof. Tom O'Dowd, President will deliver at tribute to Dr Henry Jack at the College Wednesday Webinar, 2 March at 8pm.

Henry's lifelong contribution to the profession, culminating in his sterling role as College President 2001 – 2002 and member of the College Executive 2000 – 2003, was greatly appreciated. He was also honoured by the RCGP Republic of Ireland Faculty.

College staff at Lincoln Place always looked forward to his frequent visits, his inimitable charm, and good humour lightened the day on every occasion.

We know that Henry dedicated his life to and was loved by all his patients. Approachable, knowledgeable, Henry was excellent colleague and mentor to young doctors and generations of medical students. A role model to his peers and to GPs who follow in his footsteps. Always a cheerful smile for all he met, he will be sadly missed.

Our sympathies go to Dorothy, Richard and Hazel, his extended family, friends and GP colleagues.

Henry brought honour to the College, a compassionate man, a life well lived, and a difference made will be his epitaph.
