Why would there be unfilled places?

Unfilled places (or clearing phase) is where places are available following initial rounds of recruitment. This happens when the list of applicants deemed appointable (EU and non EU), who have indicated a preference for the scheme, has been exhausted.

If there are unfilled places all applicants that that either declined a training offer or were not made an offer due to scheme selection will be notified, once they are not on the locked list.

The locked list is a list of all doctors that have formally accepted a training offer with any of the training specialties

Please note: applicants who have accepted a training offer will not be considered at clearing phase.
