Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist that works effectively as on opioid substitution treatment (OST). Buprenorphine is often combined with naloxone which acts as a deterrent to illicit intravenous use. The product used most often in Ireland is Suboxone. Buprenorphine can be used as an alternative to methadone. There are some important differences between these medications which will be detailed in the training module.
The training video is approximately 60 mins in duration and is followed by a 10 question MCQ which has an 80% successful completion mark. Once successfully completed you can download completion certificate. This training module is now a compulsory part if both level 1 and 2 training.
