Introduction

Courses will be scheduled based on interest.  If you wish to become a contraception tutor, please contact Jana Pickard at jana.pickard@icgp.ie.

This course aims to teach doctors who wish to become a contraception tutor for the purposes of certifying candidates for the Basic Certificate in Contraception. It will also serve as an update in the contraception for current instructing doctors/contraception tutors. 

The course will be of particular interest to GP trainers and GPs working in GP training practices.

  •  Long Acting Reversible Contraception
  •  Teaching contraception, cases and MCQs

Course requirements

This course is open to registered medical practitioners who:

  • GP trainers
  • GP's working in a training practice
  • GP training programme directors and assistant directors
  • Current contraception/family planning tutors
  • You MUST hold the Certificate in Contraception or Family Planning Certificate or equivalent UK qualification (this is not required if you are a GP trainer)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, participants will know how to deal with common problems and conundrums that arise during consultations on contraception and will have evidence based knowledge to back up their clinical decisions
