The PREPARED Project

The Primary Care Education, Pathways and Research of Dementia project (PREPARED), led by Dr Tony Foley (GP in Kinsale and Lecturer in the Department of General Practice, UCC) is a national dementia education and research initiative. PREPARED is developing, delivering and evaluating dementia educational resources and training for GPs and allied healthcare professionals working in the community. PREPARED has been funded by Atlantic Philanthropies and the HSE.

Between 2015 and 2019, the PREPARED project is coordinating a number of initiatives, including:

  • Online clinical resources, including decision support tools, care pathways and a database of dementia-specific services and supports, on the dementia pathways website
  • Development of dementia workshops for GPs which focus on dementia diagnosis & post diagnostic care, and the management of behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia, and the delivery of dementia workshops and seminars for GPs at national and local events
  • Dementia workshops for members of Primary Care Teams
