Q. How can I involve my practice nurse?

Your practice nurse may be involved in:

  • Supervising drug testing.
  • Ongoing monitoring of patients.
  • Taking bloods for virology screening.
  • Vaccinating as appropriate for Hepatitis A and B.
  • Completing the National Drug Treatment Reporting System (NDTRS) forms.
  • Participation in substance misuse training with the GP.
  • Assisting the GP with the initial assessment of drug users.
  • Ideally the practice should have a practice nurse protocol.
