To develop and support excellent patient care in Irish General Practice through the delivery of continuous medical education, which promotes evidence based medicine with shared decision making, along with GP personal development. This education will be accessible to all GPs through locally based supportive small groups.
The CME groups are run by practicing GPs, who have a special interest in continuous education and development.
The topics covered in the meetings range from clinical skills and therapeutics to attitudinal meetings and management skills. The material used are evidence based and are developed by the National Tutor Network, utilising their clinical and educational experience, which are tailored for small group learning locally.
The relevance and quality of the material is ensured by the combined strengths and experience of the Tutor Network along with a robust system of reviewing the material and the continuing professional development of the tutors.
