Adherence to and uptake of prescription contraception: Myths and realities

This event is for all practitioners (GPs, pharmacists and community groups), researchers and policy makers with an interest in this topic. GPs can claim internal and external credits (CPD).

This event will explore barriers and facilitators of prescription contraception use. Findings from a one year Crisis Pregnancy Programme funded project entitled 'Adherence to and uptake of hormonal and long acting reversible contraceptives in Ireland' will be presented by Dr Gerry Molloy and Leigh-Ann Sweeney. The key findings explore the psychosocial experiences of contraception use amongst Irish women.

Invited speakers include:

  • Keynote speaker: Prof Roger Ingham, Director of the Centre for Sexual Health Research, Southampton University,
  • Ms. Helen Deeley, Director of, the Crisis Pregnancy Programme
  • Dr Miriam Daly, the Irish College of General Practitioners
  • Asst. Prof Sheila Ryder, School of Pharmacy at Trinity College Dublin
