GPIT Webinars
A webinar is a web seminar or presentation shown over the internet. The GPIT Group will provide a series of webinars for GPs in 2013. These will be available to be viewed from your practice or home, using a desktop, laptop, smartphone or tablet computer.
Each session will take place at 13.00 and 20.00 on the day, in an attempt to allow as many GPs as possible to access them. Each one hour webinar will be eligible for one external CPD credit for professional competence.
During a webinar, you will see a PowerPoint presentation, hear the speaker and have an opportunity to put questions to the speaker.
The following are details of the first series of webinars in 2013 which have already taken place.

GPIT Webinar 1: Disease Coding for Dummies & Backing Up Your Data
Date: Tuesday January 15th 2013 at 13.00 and 20.00
Accreditation: 1 external CPD credit
The first GPIT Group webinar of 2013 covered two topics:
- Disease Coding for Dummies by Dr Brian Meade
Why disease coding is important; essentials of ICPC2 and ICD10; how to identify patients with significant conditions and code these; maintaining an electronic disease register; current and future developments in disease coding and classification
- Backing Up Your Data: No Data No Business by Dr Brian Blake
Importance of backing up your data; Ways in which data can be lost; Methods of backing up your data including scheduling and different media; Legal considerations
A total of 111 GPs participated in the first webinars on 15 January 2013. Feedback from GPs was very positive:
