Q. I regularly delete lots of unwanted emails but every week they are back in my inbox. Have you any tips to avoid this?

Most email providers are improving at recognising unrelated spam emails and putting them into a junk folder automatically. Repetitive emails are usually from previous purchase encounters like flights, hotels or online purchases. Many give you the option to opt out but some insist you provide an email account to perform the transaction.

If the spam mail is related to a previous purchase, scrolling to the bottom and selecting unsubscribe usually removes you from their mailing list and stops the cyclical emails. If the spam doesn't correlate to previous purchases, then it's wise to move it directly to junk folder. Never unsubscribe to an unrelated spam email or open any links or attachments from unknown senders. Be wary of out-of-context emails from known senders. Check with them first if they actually sent the email. Another option is to create a spam email account for making purchases only.
