Q. Can I use LogMeIn for remote access to my practice PC from home?

A. LogMeIn is fine for remote access. A few good practices to keep in mind:

  • Use a strong password, at least eight characters with a mix of numbers, letters – both upper case and lower case – and non-alphanumeric characters.
  • Don't share the password or reuse it for other online services
  • Keep the number of remote users to a minimum
  • Use the pro or paid version
  • Keep the software up to date
  • Don't access your practice computer from insecure wifi networks like cafés, hotels or bars
  • Ensure you have a firewall and antivirus software on your practice network
  • Ensure your practice computer's operating system is up to date and have all the necessary security patches.
