Q. I find myself challenged by everything I have to do during the day. Are there any IT programmes to help me prioritise tasks?

A. It can be difficult to schedule and prioritise in general practice because one clinical emergency can throw the whole day out. But there are techniques you can use to better manage your time. A good start is the book Getting Things Done by David Allen. This is available in paperback and as an audio book (if you want to listen to it while driving). There are software applications built around the principles of this book, but if you implement the ideas in the book, you won't need any software to be productive and stress-free. And at the very least your stress will be reduced.
