Information for Non-EU GPs

This programme enables experienced non-EU GPs to work in routine, daytime rural GP practice for two years, with some GP out-of-hours work. The ICGP will provide substantial ongoing education supports and the 'host' GP practice provides clinical supervision.

Programme Information

Please ensure that you have read each of the following page before progressing with your application:

Acceptance to the ICGP Non-EU Rural GP Programme is dependent on:

1. Review of your application and meeting the eligibility criteria, which must include:

  • three years of general practice experience in a GP setting (obtained in Ireland or elsewhere in the world)
  • post graduate experience must include paediatrics and general medicine

2. Call to interview if you meet the eligibility criteria.

3. Satisfactory clinical references if you are successful at interview.

4. Placement in a participating rural GP practice. You will be employed by the practice in which you are placed.

The final decision on the placement of a non-EU GP in a GP practice is made by the programme.
