The ICGP has made a detailed submission to the Committee on Future Healthcare on behalf of ICGP members.

The core message in the submission is that "general practice is the key to sustainable healthcare". The College outlined 14 detailed recommendations to create a general practice-led healthcare service, including:
•The urgent provision of a new GP Contract
•A GP-led community-based chronic illnesses management
•Additional funding for general practice
•Increasing capacity in general practice and primary care
•Improving ICT capacity and monitoring performance
•Expanding built capacity in general practice (in existing practices)
•Medications management
•Building access to diagnostic services for GPs and patients
•Building access to primary care services for GPs and patients
•Universal primary healthcare
•Universal secondary healthcare
•Public health and health promotion
•Reversal of fragmented care
