Important information regarding the 2020 2021 and 2021 2022 PCS years

As per previous guidance from the Medical Council, PCS requirements were adjusted last year to reflect the current situation in Ireland. Please see outlined below the relevant changes.

2021 2022 PCS year (1st May 2021 – 30th April 2022)

  • All doctors registered with the Irish Medical Council are required to engage in and record a minimum of 25 CPD credits across any credit categories AND a clinical/practice audit (for assistance on conducting an audit, please visit www.icgp.ie/audit)
  • Doctors will need to confirm that they met these requirements when completing their annual Medical Council retention of registration in May/June 2022
  • At the request of the Medical Council, ICGP will be conducting their annual verification process on the 2021 2022 PCS year.

2020 2021 PCS year (1st May 2020 – 30th April 2021)

  • All doctors registered with the Irish Medical Council are required to engage in and record a minimum of 25 CPD credits across any credit categories.
  • Doctors are not required to record an audit for the 2020 2021 PCS year.
  • Doctors will need to confirm that they met these requirements when completing their annual Medical Council retention of registration in May/June 2021.
  • At the request of the Medical Council, ICGP will be conducting their annual verification process on the 2020 2021 PCS year. Doctors who are randomly selected for the process will receive notification in July 2021.
