Amendments to the CPD requirements for 2020 2021 PCS year

The Medical Council has confirmed an amendment to the CPD compliance requirements for the 2020 2021 PCS year. To support doctors and to acknowledge the learning gained from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Medical Council has confirmed that the following requirements will apply for the 2020 2020 PCS year:

  • Doctors will not be required to record a clinical/practice audit with their Scheme
  • Doctors will be required to record 25 CPD credits across any of the CPD categories (externalinternalpersonal learningresearch / teaching)
  • CPD targets for each CPD category will not apply for 2020 2021

Please see attached advice from the Medical Council which outlines in detail the revised requirements. We recommend that you familiarise yourself with these.

These requirements apply to everyone who is enrolled on the 2020 2021 ICGP PCS. If you have not already enrolled, we suggest that you do so as soon as possible on www.icgp.ie/pcs

If you have any queries in relation to this, or require assistance with meeting your CPD requirements, please email professionalcompetence@icgp.ie
