Q. What is the difference between research and audit?

A. The purpose of audit is to act as a mechanism for you to reflect on your practice and to document improvements as a result. In an audit, you are asking 'Am I doing what I am supposed to be doing?", and therefore it assumes that standards, guidelines or evidence exists. (This is in comparison to research which asks "What should we be doing?").
