Eamonn has worked in rural general practice in Kerry since 1986, having graduated from UCC in 1982 and attended the Cork VTS under Prof Bill Shannon.
He works in a purpose built health centre with three partners, close to where he grew up and is the third generation, of four, general practitioners.
The practice has had a generational commitment to education and teaching, at undergraduate, graduate entry and postgraduate level.
He has been involved with the Kerry Faculty since its inception.
Eamonn's clinical interests are in chronic disease management, specifically asthma, COPD, diabetes, chronic renal and cardiac failure. He is particularly interested in a whole of person approach to these conditions, recognising in many cases there is multi-morbidity.
He believes strongly in behavioural modification at the level of the individual, family, local community and nationally as the only means to truly manage these conditions, and recognises the crucial role general practitioners have in being clinical leaders in the community.
To bring about changes in public attitudes to health, he has presented "Health Matters", a weekly medical program on Radio Kerry since 1990.
A lapsed private pilot, he has had an interest in transport and transport medicine being an Aviation Medical Examiner and holding a Certificate in Traffic Medicine
