Irish College of General Practitioners representatives attend Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health to discuss the preparation of clinical guidelines in light of the impending introduction of abortion services in Ireland.

The Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) is the professional body for general practice in Ireland, and the representative organisation on education, training and standards in general practice.

Three representatives - Dr John O'Brien (President), Dr Mary Favier (Vice-President) and Dr Tony Cox (Medical Director) - attended the session of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health today (Wed. September 19th) to discuss the clinical guidelines being prepared in light of the impending introduction of abortion services in Ireland.

They presented a submission and summarised the ongoing work on designing a service, primarily in the provision of clinical guidelines, which meet the needs of its patients.

The ICGP has engaged in a member engagement process to help generate possible solutions in the design of a termination of pregnancy clinical care pathway.
