Keynote: Professor Victor Montori MD, Mayo Clinic, USA
"We [clinicians] all have the ability to care. We must stand up for care, in a system that is increasingly impacted by business and other external influences," Prof Victor Montori.
Prof Montori is a Consultant Endocrinologist and author of Why We Revolt: A Patient Revolution for Careful and Kind Care. and how this leads to optimal health care delivery and better patient outcomes. At the conference, Prof Montori will discuss what may be necessary to respond sensibly and effectively to the problematic situation of patients living with a number of chronic conditions.

- Dr Andrew W. Murphy, Foundation Professor of General Practice at NUI Galway and general practitioner principal Turloughmore, County Galway. He has contributed to national policy development in many roles, including as the Chair of the Primary Care Sub-Committee of the Ministerial Advisory Forum of the Cardiovascular Strategy (2000-6). His research addresses chronic disease management and professional practice in the community. He also commissioned the short film The Patient Effect in collaboration with SFI, NUIG and HRB. - Dr Derek O' Keeffe, Consultant Endocrinologist at UHG and Professor of Medical Device Technology at NUIG. Dr O' Keeffe was a Fulbright Scholar at Harvard and is a graduate of the Endocrinology Clinical Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, USA.
- Dr Joan Cunningham, Consultant in Palliative Medicine and Medical Director Our Lady's Hospice and Care Services, Dublin. Joan was most recently Clinical Lead for Schwartz Rounds in Blackrock Hospice as part of the HSE pilot of Introducing Schwartz Rounds in Ireland and part of Project ECHO with the All Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care.
- Prof Seán Dinneen, National Lead for the Diabetes Clinical Programme, HSE, Consultant Endocrinologist, Galway University Hospitals, Galway, Ireland and Professor of Diabetic Medicine, National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland.
