Programme Information

Application Notes

  • GP Practice application incurs an administration fee of €250
  • Acceptance into the ICGP Non-EU Rural GP Programme does not guarantee placement of a non-EU GP in your practice.
  • Applications are reviewed regularly. A member of the project team will be in contact with you following that review.
  • Acceptance into the ICGP Non-EU Rural GP Programme does not guarantee placement of a non-EU GP in your practice.
  • The final decision on the placement of a non-EU GP in a GP practice is made by the programme.

Application Questions 

Please review the questions below and ensure that the relevant information is available to you when completing the application:

  1. Name and address of your GP practice
  2. Names of all GPs in the practice and their GMS and ICGP numbers
  3. Are all GPs in the practice members of the ICGP, in good standing
  4. Name of the GP applying on behalf of the practice
  5. Email address for the GP applying on behalf of the practice6. Mobile number of the GP applying on behalf of the practice
  6. Are all GPs in the practice enrolled on and in compliance with the ICGP Professional Competence Scheme?
  7. Does the practice have a history of involvement in medical education? 
  8. Can you provide a dedicated consulting room for the candidate?
  9. It is a requirement of the programme that the candidate is allowed to attend a 2-day induction programme and provide 2 weeks study leave per year. Is the practice prepared commit to this? 
  10. This practice agrees to participate in ongoing evaluation of this programme
  11. Name of the nominated clinical supervisor for the candidate
  12. Is the clinical supervisor based in the practice where the candidate is located (six sessions per week of which four should coincide with the candidate)? 
  13. Has the clinical supervisor been in active clinical practice for a minimum of five years post MICGP? 
  14. Is the clinical supervisor on the Specialist Register of the Irish Medical Council?
  15. Does the clinical supervisor have professional good standing?
  16. Clinical supervisor: Please declare any prior or ongoing performance issues with the IMC or other regulatory bodies in other jurisdictions within the last 5 years.
